The German forest

Broadview TV | Arte

German culture, it is said, has its roots in the forest, at least since Germanic warriors defeated the Romans in the Varus Battle. In Romanticism, the forest becomes a place of longing; it is painted, rhymed and sung about – and at the same time a symbol of national sovereignty. The Nazis instrumentalize him for their racist and anti-semitic ideology and the homeland films of post-war cinema for the dream of an ideal world.

serious play was commissioned to create various intertitles based on the myths and legends surrounding the German forest.
